I had a conversation with a friend of mine when we were both pretty high. I really can’t remember the exact words, but I know that it had an impact on me, and this song almost immediately came out as a whole. But it’s basically about someone coming to realize that his loneliness and isolation are the direct result of his own hand, whether or not he realized it at the time, and that as much as he wants to, there’s no blaming anyone else for his position. So, obviously it’s pretty sad in a certain respect, but also a mark of strength as a turning point, putting the victim in himself to rest, and a realization that from this point forward, he is in control of his own life.
