about

The idea for the song came from reading an article in National Geographic about how the world’s population is growing so quickly. But, the essence of the meaning is a double/double entendre, a paradox within itself. “In the simplest of terms, we are all just dust” Ten billion particles refers to the amount of people soon to be on this planet, but yet being particular, being strange sets one aside as an individual. So, “Just as many molecules” indicates the fact that we are all simply composed of dust, inert chemical compounds. But, they are vibrating, so there is energy within, and there, at that quantum level, is a miracle, a tiny spark, a passage of time. And then when multiplied on an exponential level, it becomes life. And just as each molecule is vibrating, so are each of us moving. So then we, as human beings work together, share energy and create our own world, which is the greatest miracle, made up of other miracles.

lyrics

In the simplest of terms
We are all just dust

We’re ten billion particles
So why do you have to be
So particular

In the simplest of terms
We are all just dust

And just as many molecules
Whoa vibrating

Every movement is a moment
Every moment is a miracle
We are all of us moving
We are all a part
Of this miracle

In the simplest of terms
